What is your position at CROW?
"I am an undergraduate externship student."

How long have you worked at CROW?

"I recently finished my seven week externship at CROW."

What is your favorite animal and why?

"Can I say that animals are my favorite? I’ve been so fortunate to have experience working with reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals. I think all are special in their own way. Snakes hold a special interest for me as they were one of the first wild animals I got to study and are so under appreciated!"

What is your favorite memory or story from your time at CROW?

"My most memorable moment was the first time I was introduced to a burrowing owl. I absolutely love owls but we don’t have burrowing owls in the mountains. I had never seen one in person. On intake, a small burrowing owl came in to CROW for the inability to fly. I was able to work with our amazing veterinary staff to find out what was wrong with this guy. The burrowing owl ended up having a wing fracture that we were able to stabilize and monitor throughout his care. It is so cool to be able to watch a patient heal from the beginning to end!"

What activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of CROW?

"Outside of CROW I love to take my camera and take pictures of all the things I see. Photography has been a way for me to immerse myself in nature and share it with others. I also love a good book, hot tea, and cuddles from my cats at home."Image preview

What are some of your goals or aspirations for the future?

"My goal is to have a career in veterinary medicine that focuses on the conservation of endangered species. Through research, I was able to study Hellbenders and the Turks Island Boa, both of which are endangered. These experiences showed me how important it is to be involved in conservation and hopefully inspire others to become involved as well."
